What Is TFC Becoming?

Over the past few weeks, I have been writing much more than usual. I have written about spirituality, research, science and spiritual experience, manifestation, meditation, Ho'oponopono, religion, personal responsibility, intuition and what happens when somebody sits with me in a deep session. If you have been following the blog, you may have wondered why I suddenly have so much to say.

The truth is, I am not simply filling a blog with articles. I am building the next stage of Thrive Forward Coaching.

Writing has become an important part of the work I do. Sometimes I write because I have been thinking about something myself. Sometimes something comes from my studies or reading. Sometimes a conversation makes me think, there is something here that we need to talk about. And sometimes I write because I keep hearing the same questions from different people and realise that perhaps there is something useful I can put into words.

But I don't want you simply reading my words and agreeing with me. In fact, if you have been reading for a while, you will know that I regularly ask you to stop and question things. I might give you an exercise, tell you something from my own life or deliberately leave you with a question instead of giving you an answer. You may disagree with me completely. Good. Go and read something else. Research it. Think about why you disagree. Come back to it six weeks later and see whether you still think the same thing. That is part of learning too.

This is also why I say that your work with me doesn't necessarily begin when you arrive for a session. You may read something here today and recognise a behaviour in yourself weeks from now. You may try an exercise and realise something you hadn't noticed before. You may arrive at a deep session and say, as many people do, “I don't know where to start.” That's okay. Start wherever you feel comfortable.

I listen. I take notes. I ask questions when I need to, and slowly we start putting things together.

There is a reason I prefer deeper sessions rather than trying to squeeze somebody's life into a quick conversation. What a person initially thinks they need to discuss is not necessarily where we end up. There may be old emotions sitting underneath something current. There may be a decision that has been avoided for years. There may be patterns that only become visible when we put several pieces together. Or there may simply be too much happening at once, and that person needs somewhere to put everything down, look at it properly and work out what actually belongs where.

Clarity can take time.

The same applies to learning.

I study continuously, not because I want to collect information for the sake of it, but because learning is part of who I am and part of the responsibility I believe I have when I work with other people. My academic background and legal studies influence the way I analyse information. I continue to read about neuroscience, human behaviour, personal development, consciousness and spiritual experience. I question what I read. I change my mind. I find something fascinating and then discover that the evidence isn't quite as straightforward as somebody online made it sound. Then I read some more.

The more I learn, the less interested I become in pretending to have all the answers.

What learning gives me is better questions.

When somebody trusts me enough to sit opposite me and talk about something deeply personal, I take that responsibility seriously. Creating a business was never going to be the point where I stopped learning. I want TFC to become better because I continue learning, practising, questioning and developing.

And now I want to bring more of that learning directly to you.

I am developing a private learning space within TFC. For the moment, I am calling it TFC Learning, although anyone who knows me knows there is every possibility I will be making dinner one evening, another name will suddenly arrive in my head and that will be the end of TFC Learning as a name. We shall see.

What I do know is what I want it to be.

It will be a private, subscriber-only learning space for £10 per month, where I can take some of the subjects we discuss publicly and go further with them. It will not be another blog, because we already have one. It will not be another newsletter arriving constantly in your inbox. It will not be an enormous online course where you receive hundreds of videos and documents and then spend the next six months feeling guilty because you haven't completed them. And I don't want to create another online community that requires you to participate every day simply to feel that you are getting your money's worth.

I want us to actually learn.

There is an important difference between reading something interesting and working with what you have learned. On the public blog, I may introduce a subject, share some of my thinking and perhaps leave you with a question. Within TFC Learning, I can take that same subject further. We can look at what it means, examine different perspectives, work through an exercise and give you time to apply some of it to your own life.

That is why I don't want to overwhelm the learning space with content. The intention is two lessons each month and one exercise. There needs to be time between lessons because I want you to do something with them. Read the lesson. Think about it. Put it down. Go and live your life. Notice something. Come back. Write if you want to write. Question something if it doesn't make sense. Then move on when you are ready.

There is no competition here and certainly no certificate for finishing first.

The purpose is not to consume information. The purpose is to see whether something you learn can actually become useful in your life.

This is also where the different parts of TFC begin to make more sense together. The blog remains public because I want people to have access to my writing without becoming clients or paying for everything I produce. A deep session is different because that time is about you. We are sitting together and working with your circumstances, your questions and whatever you bring into the room. TFC Learning will be different again because it gives me room to teach.

You don't have to become dependent on one part to use another. In fact, dependence is the opposite of what I want to create.

I don't want you to need Marcia every time something happens in your life.

I want you to become better at stopping, questioning, recognising what is happening, understanding yourself and making your own decisions. You still have to live your life. You make the decisions. You deal with the consequences. You change direction when something isn't working. You do the work that belongs to you.

TFC can simply be one of the places where you come to stop for a while, reorganise, learn something, find some clarity and then continue forward.

There are already subjects I know I want to explore more deeply. Some will come from things I have written about here. Others will come from my studies, my books, exercises I use myself, questions people bring to me and subjects I believe deserve more than one blog post. And there will be things I haven't thought about yet, which is why I want you involved too.

Tell me what you actually want to learn.

If you have read something on this blog and thought, Marcia, you didn't go far enough with this, tell me. If there is something I regularly talk about that you want me to explain properly, tell me. If there is a question you keep returning to, send it to me.

I cannot promise that every suggestion will become a lesson. Sometimes my answer may simply be, I don't know enough about that yet. And I am perfectly comfortable saying that. It may send me away to read and study, and perhaps six months later I will have something useful to say.

There is much more happening behind the scenes at TFC, and some of it I am keeping quiet for now — which requires considerably more self-control from me than you might imagine.

But this part I can finally share.

TFC Learning is coming.

It will be £10 per month. It will be private. It will be structured, but it will not be overwhelming. There will be lessons, exercises and space between them to actually think. Most importantly, I want it to contain learning that you can take away from the screen and use in your real life.

For now, keep reading the public blog. Question me. Question yourself. Go and do your own research. Take what is useful and leave what isn't.

And when TFC Learning opens its doors, we will take some of these conversations a little deeper.

With love,
Marcia
